Our itinerary will guide you to explore the most fabulous beauties around Mt. Etna, which dominates the eastern side of Sicily. Walking through snow with the aid of snowshoes is an excellent way to travel through the winter landscape without needing the technical skills of a skier.
We will provide all the necessary technical equipment, including trekking poles and snowshoes. To make the most of the excursion, we recommend layered clothing suitable for the winter season:
This experience is perfect for everyone: families, couples, groups of friends, and mountain lovers. We’ll depart by jeep or minivan from an agreed-upon point between Taormina, Giardini Naxos, and the surrounding area, then head to a refuge at 1,500 meters above sea level.
From there, our snowshoe excursion will begin: a stroll through snow-covered forests and ancient lava flows, where the contrast between the white snow and the black volcanic rock creates breathtaking scenery. No previous experience is required; all you need is the desire to discover Mount Etna in winter and be captivated by its grandeur.
The tour is available during the winter months, from December to February, and is conducted in Italian and English. The price is €65 per person, payable on-site, and the excursion lasts approximately 4 hours. Technical equipment, including snowshoes and trekking poles, is provided by our team.

Departure is scheduled between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m. (time to be agreed upon). We offer a convenient pick-up service from Taormina, Giardini Naxos, and surrounding areas, directly from your accommodation or from a meeting point agreed upon with you. For other locations, such as Catania, the meeting point will be arranged with the guide. Don’t hesitate to contact us to best organize your departure!
After a transfer by jeep or minivan along the scenic Mareneve road, we’ll reach a chalet at 1,500 meters above sea level, the starting point of our snow adventure.
From here, the snowshoe hike itself will begin, on a snow-covered path through enchanted forests, old lava flows, and picture-postcard landscapes. Depending on the group’s level and fitness, the guide will adapt the itinerary: you can opt for easier trails in the forest or more challenging paths.
As with all our excursions, a touch of adventure is a must! During the tour, we’ll also visit a lava flow tunnel (also known as a lava cave) and observe traces of the ancient eruptions that shaped the landscapes of the Etna Park.
The snowshoe hike will last approximately 1–1.5 hours, but the memories will last forever!
The tour concludes at a refuge at 1,500 meters, where those who wish can enjoy typical local products in a welcoming atmosphere, ideal for relaxing after a hike in the snow. We’ll then return to the starting point.

Most Etna tours are designed to be accessible to people with a normal level of fitness. Some experiences, such as summit crater trekking, quad tours, or bike excursions, may require greater physical effort. It is always recommended to read the details of each specific tour or request information before booking.
No specific experience is required for most activities. Guides always provide instructions and assistance. For quad, bike, or e-bike tours, basic familiarity with the vehicle is required.
Many excursions are also suitable for children, but the minimum age may vary depending on the type of activity (for example quad tours or high-altitude trekking). It is advisable to always communicate the children’s age at the time of booking.
The price generally includes an expert guide and, depending on the tour, any necessary technical equipment (such as helmets, trekking poles, snowshoes, or vehicles). Transfer service from Taormina is also included in the price.
Comfortable, sporty clothing is recommended, preferably in layers. Temperatures on Etna can be lower than along the coast, especially at higher altitudes. Closed trekking or sports shoes, a windproof jacket, and warm clothing in winter are recommended.
If the weather conditions are particularly adverse (heavy storms, strong winds, or unsafe mountain conditions), tours may be cancelled or postponed. In such cases, a rescheduling option is usually offered. If the tour is cancelled, since payment is made on site, you will not lose anything.
