To ensure a comfortable and personalized experience every step of the way, we’ll pick you up directly at your accommodation in Taormina, Giardini Naxos, or the surrounding area. From there, we’ll depart by jeep or minivan to begin our approximately 5-hour adventure.
With our certified guides, you’ll discover legendary forests, admire impressive lava flows, and explore some of the most fascinating volcanic caves along the way, using protective helmets and flashlights provided by us.
The excursion is available year-round and is conducted in Italian and English. At the end of the experience, we’ll stop at an altitude of 1,500 meters for lunch at a mountain hut, the perfect opportunity to relax and discover some typical Sicilian flavors (lunch is not included in the tour price).

Experience an extraordinary excursion to Mount Etna from Taormina! The tour departs directly from Taormina, Giardini Naxos, and surrounding areas: we’ll pick you up, coordinating the most convenient meeting point. Want to depart from Catania? No problem, we can organize it by consulting your guide!
We’ll travel by jeep/minivan through the picturesque villages of Piedimonte Etneo and Linguaglossa, on the volcano’s north slope. We’ll take the scenic Mareneve road to the chalet at 1,500 meters above sea level, where the real adventure will begin.
Our guided tour of Etna begins with the impressive lava flows of 2002 and 2003, which transformed the landscape of Piano Provenzana. We’ll continue with an accessible trek through the woods of the Sartorius Mountains, craters formed by the 1865 eruption, until we “climb” a spectacular array of five eruptive cones. From here, the view is simply breathtaking.
The guided tour of Etna continues with an exploration of the Grotta dei Ladroni, a prehistoric lava tube immersed in the natural setting of the Piano delle Donne. Helmets and flashlights (provided) will allow you to enjoy a safe and exciting experience in the heart of the volcano.
After the hike, a relaxing moment awaits you in a welcoming refuge, where you can enjoy typical local products in complete tranquility, surrounded by the silence and beauty of Etna. At the end of the day, we’ll comfortably take you back to the starting point.

The Etna excursion offered by MrExcursions is suitable for most people, even without specific trekking experience. You will walk along natural trails with expert guides, and no special athletic preparation is required. However, a good general physical condition and comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
Yes. The tour is designed for families and children from approximately 3 years old, with special rates for younger participants. However, for very young children or those with mobility difficulties, it is important to evaluate with the guide whether the route is suitable.
The excursion price normally includes: a professional expert guide, necessary technical equipment (such as helmets or trekking poles, when required), and pick-up and drop-off at your accommodation or meeting point.
Some longer or special tours may also include lunch or tastings (e.g., wine tasting tours).
If the weather conditions are particularly adverse (heavy storms, strong winds, or unsafe mountain conditions), tours may be cancelled or postponed. In such cases, a rescheduling option is usually offered. If the tour is cancelled, since payment is made on site, you will not lose anything.
Temperatures vary significantly depending on altitude: at higher elevations it can be 10–20°C colder than on the coast, and wind can make it feel even colder.
We recommend dressing in layers (t-shirt, sweatshirt, jacket/windbreaker), bringing a light waterproof jacket, and wearing comfortable closed shoes or trekking shoes. A hat and sunglasses are also very useful.
