During the first part of the excursion, we will walk through secular woods around Mount Etna discovering spectacular volcanic phenomena, craters, and unusual rock and lava formations. We will visit the most important wineries in the area: Etna winemakers know how to use the volcanic soil and local grape varieties to create wines that are incredibly unique.

Excursion, lunch, and wine tasting at an Etna winery
The experience begins with a nature hike along some of the most scenic trails in the Etna Park. Accompanied by a certified guide, you’ll pass through ancient lava flows, birch forests, and centuries-old pine trees, until you reach a volcanic cave to explore in complete safety. Along the way, your guide will tell you about the history and geology of the volcano, immersing you in a unique and evocative setting.
After the nature walk, it’s time to relax in the winery. You’ll enjoy a true Sicilian lunch, savoring typical local products. In a renowned winery, guided by expert sommeliers, you’ll taste some of the finest Etna DOC wines. Each glass will be paired with a sampling of Sicilian specialties, allowing you to enjoy a tasting of intense flavors, surrounded by the beauty of nature.
What the Etna Wine Tour includes:
The guided excursion, available year-round, begins in the morning with pickup from your accommodation in Taormina, Giardini Naxos, and the surrounding area. The experience, including the hike, lunch, and wine tasting, lasts approximately six hours. The guided excursion takes place among the ancient Etna forests, among the white birch trees that illuminate the volcano’s slopes. The route is simple and accessible to all.

Wine tasting tour program:
Wine and local produce tastings are included in the excursion price. The nature and food tour organized by MrExcursions allows you to visit the most beautiful corners of the volcano and, after the excursion, taste some of the finest wines produced in this area. The excursion will begin between 8:30 and 9:00 am. The tour departs directly from Taormina, Giardini Naxos, and surrounding areas: we’ll pick you up, coordinating the most convenient meeting point. Want to depart from Catania? No problem, we can organize it by consulting your guide!
We’ll hike through ancient pine and birch forests, visiting a distinctive array of five consecutive lateral craters, offering breathtaking views. We’ll uncover the volcano’s secrets by entering a lava flow tunnel, the famous “lava cave.” We’ll also observe the remains of the powerful 2002 lava flow. The walk will last about an hour and a half and will take us along picturesque paths through the undergrowth.
Around 1:00 PM, it’s time to relax with a 100% Sicilian lunch in an authentic winery. Here, we’ll savor wines with their distinctive volcanic flavors, produced by one of Etna’s most renowned wineries. We’ll be welcomed by expert sommeliers, ready to reveal the secrets of the barrels and the affinity between the volcano and the wine.
After lunch, we’ll take a guided tour of the winery, learning about the work of Etna’s winemakers. Finally, we’ll be taken back to our accommodations, concluding the tour around 4:30 PM.

You will walk along natural trails with expert guides, and no special athletic preparation is required. However, a good general physical condition and comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
Yes. The tour is designed for families and children from approximately 3 years old, with special rates for younger participants. However, for very young children or those with mobility difficulties, it is important to evaluate with the guide whether the route is suitable.
The excursion price normally includes: a professional expert guide, necessary technical equipment (such as helmets or trekking poles, when required), and pick-up and drop-off at your accommodation or meeting point.
Some longer or special tours may also include lunch or tastings (e.g., wine tasting tours).
If the weather conditions are particularly adverse (heavy storms, strong winds, or unsafe mountain conditions), tours may be cancelled or postponed. In such cases, a rescheduling option is usually offered. If the tour is cancelled, since payment is made on site, you will not lose anything.
Temperatures vary significantly depending on altitude: at higher elevations it can be 10–20°C colder than on the coast, and wind can make it feel even colder.
We recommend dressing in layers (t-shirt, sweatshirt, jacket/windbreaker), bringing a light waterproof jacket, and wearing comfortable closed shoes or trekking shoes. A hat and sunglasses are also very useful.
